Batting Cages Inc. - Your Source for Batting Cage Nets
The material used in a batting cage nets is critical.
This is why we use only Kevloy TM premium netting. Kevloy
TM is a commercial polymer that is also used in bullet-proof
vests. This material is strong, lightweight, does not absorb water,
and will not breakdown in direct sunlight.
Why use KevloyTM for a batting cage net? Many batting cages are made out of either nylon netting or polyethylene netting and while certainly some nice batting cages are made out
of these materials, both polyethylene and nylon have significant drawbacks.
The traditional standby material used in a batting cage net has always been either knotted or knotless nylon netting. Nylon netting can absorb water, so many batting cage net manufacturers treat the nylon with a bonding agent. Treating nylon with a bonding agent will reduce nylon's tendency to soak up water, but it doesn't stop it entirely. Eventually the nylon, and your batting cage net, can shrink and rot.
Polyethylene netting is increasing in popularity for use in batting cage nets, largely because it is inexpensive. However, polyethylene netting has drawbacks for use in a batting cage net.
While it does not absorb water, many types of polyethylene degrade under direct sunlight. This works all right for indoor applications, but it may not be practical over the long haul for outdoor use,
especially in warmer climates.
KevloyTM is simply the finest material to use in a batting cage net. It does not absorb water, will not shrink, and it resists the effects of direct sunlight. Most importantly, it is very STRONG and this is why this material is also used in the construction of bullet proof vests.

The Sewing
Next to the netting material, the sewing is the most important factor determining how batting cage net material will wear. If your batting cage net is assembled with light thread, or the stitching is loose, even the best netting can separate from the rope perimeter.
Every batting cage net used in a Batting Cages Inc. batting cage is assembled on state-of-the-art computerized sewing machines. This tightly weaves a thick cord around the rope perimeters in a positive locking pattern called Posi-Lock which provides an exceptionally strong bind between the batting cage net and the rope.

We sew an extra rib line that runs down the middle of
the top panel from front to back which then provides an extra support
point ensuring you can keep the batting cage net held high.
