6 Tips for Year-Round Care of Your Batting Cage Net

You’ve invested a sizeable amount of money in your batting cage, now – how can you best take care of the net? Here are some essential tips for year-round care and maintenance. By following these guidelines, you can ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your batting cage net.
  1. Regular Inspection: Conduct periodic inspections to identify any signs of wear or damage. Check for loose threads, holes, or weak spots in the netting. Early detection allows for timely net repairs or replacements.
  2. Cleaning Routine: Keep your net clean by removing debris, dirt, and dust regularly. Use a soft brush or broom to gently sweep the netting, starting from the top and working your way down. Another solution is to use a yard blower to remove dust and debris. These methods can prevent dirt from accumulating.
  3. Weather Protection: Extreme weather conditions, such as strong winds, heavy rain, or snowfall, can impact the net and batting cage’s durability. When severe weather is forecasted, consider temporarily removing the netting until the weather has passed.
  4. UV Protection: Prolonged exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) rays can weaken the netting over time. We highly recommend using a High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) net. These nets are treated during manufacturing to help safeguard the net from sun damage and thereby extending its lifespan.
  5. Proper Storage: If you plan to store the net during off-seasons or extended periods of non-use, ensure it is completely dry before folding or rolling it. Store the net in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area to prevent mold or mildew growth. We recommend storing it in a large plastic garbage can keeping it safely out of the way.
  6. Prompt Repairs: Address any small tears or holes immediately to prevent them from worsening. We offer Patch Repair kits allowing you to fix minor damages quickly. For considerable damage or wear, consider replacing the affected sections or the entire net if necessary.
By following these guidelines, you can maintain and even extend the life of your batting cage net giving you years of service.

Jeffrey,
Yes. Most people will get one of the large trash cans with a lid and roll the net up as small as possible and store it in there. You want to make sure that you keep it in a place where mice and other rodents will not want to chew or make a home.
